Hi guys! its been a long time since my last post. I had been busy lately because of my On-the-Job training, our tour in Manila-Baguio-Tagaytay and lastly because of some school requirements that were needed to pass. After these busy schedules, our family decided to have fun and go for vacation.
Here we come again Israel! although this is my second time visiting Israel, it still gives me excitement because I will have a chance again to discover new things about this holy place and ofcourse I will have a chance also to have a quality time with God especially now that I really needed Him.We stayed at Hilton Hotel, and this hotel was located right by the Mediterranean Sea that really gives a great view for the tourists. This day was really an amazing day for me. I learnt so many things about the Bible that really convicts me.
Our First stop was in the old city of Jaffa. Jaffa is famous because of its biblical stories of Jonah and Simon the tanner. I really like this place because of its old walls and buildings that will make you feel like you are on the ancient times. The House of Simon the tanner was also located here, and it was here that apostle Peter performed a miracle and was given a vision about the unclean animals in *Acts 10*.
As I have mentioned, this city was also famous because of Jonah. This city on the Mediterranean sea coast was used as a port during the ancient times and it is where Jonah departed and was swallowed by a huge fish because of his disobedience to God. And what I’ve learned about his story and what Amir our tourguide was telling us is, if God is calling you to do something or to go somewhere for him, we must do it. Because if your not going to do it, God might find a way for you to do it. Obedience is better than sacrifice.
Our second stop was on Beth Shemesh, it was also known as the house of the sun because the people here before were worshiping the sun. There where fifty thousand people died on this place during the bible times because they remove the cover of the ark of the covenant. It is said that the cover of the ark of the covenant symbolizes the blood of Christ. There where three things also that are present inside the ark( the Mana, the tablets of the Ten commandments, and the cane of Aaron. It symbolizes the unbelief of the people. Ark of the covenant is a picture of Jesus dying on the cross for our salvation and once you remove the cover of the ark, Death will come. Just like in Jesus, if He did not shed his blood for us for our salvation, death will also come to us because the wages of our sin is death. *Romans 6:23*
After in Beth Shemesh, we headed to the Valley of Ellah. Everyoned heard about David, the boy who faced and fought the Giant, Goliath. Against all the difficulties, using his sling and with the help of God, David was able to knock out and chopped off the head of Goliath. God is giving us the lesson here. The enemy in our lives is our SIN, satan is just waiting around the corner to attack us especially in our weaknesses. And it is our choice to either knock off the enemy for a while or we can either chop off his head. We should not be afraid of the enemy just like what David did. We should not run away from the enemy because we have the authority, the power, the strength and we should never ever try to look at the size of the enemy but we should concentrate on the size and the power of our God. If we will try to look at the size of the enemy, then we will get intimidated. If we will concentrate to the size of our God, Then we will be bold. We should always remember that Our God is way bigger than our enemy.
This is a Threshing place. It is where the process of separating the grains from a straw by the feet of the people or donkey and oxen during the bible times.
Back in the old times, Olive press was used to extract and grind the olives. From this stage, crushed olives were moved to fiber baskets. These baskets were placed in presses and were used as filters, as the pressure and rotation resulted in liquid being squeezed from the olives. The seeds and waste remained in the baskets and were thrown away.
